The perfect venue
With a calming seaside exterior and a haven of contemporary decor inside, Poetic License Bar is the perfect place to come whatever the occasion. We’re fortunate enough to have one of the biggest beer gardens in Sunderland, a range of indoor seating, a patio area, and if you’d like to make a weekend of it we’re directly adjacent to the wonderful Roker Hotel.

Our very own Bar Manager Scott is forever using his vast knowledge and experience to come up with new and wonderful cocktails for you to enjoy. He and his senior bar staff are always on the lookout for cutting edge tipples; from the sweet and eclectic, to the good old classics and everything in between!

Food for the soul
No matter the mood or the time of day, our Soul Food is guaranteed to hit the spot. Our team of chefs have written a fantastically diverse menu ranging from Small Plates to Signature Dishes, with a bit of everything in between. We’re very proud of the food that we serve, and we really do believe it shows through in our dishes.

Hand crafted gin is our speciality
With Poetic License Distillery situated behind the bar, hand crafted Gin is quite literally what we do. We’re fortunate enough to have ‘Gracie’, Poetic License Distillery’s 500 Litre Copper still at the far end of our bar on show for you to see, which means that the Cocktails made within our bar really don’t have to travel far from the hands of distillers, to still, to bottle, to glass.
Poetic License Gin isn’t all we sell of course, we have a range of both ales and craft keg from local and national breweries, our very own S43 Brewery beers, as well as a whole host of other hand picked spirits, specifically chosen to make the very best drinks, for you!
